CORE VALUES. THIS IS US.
Who you are deep down leads to what you do. (Proverbs 4:23) These are our demonstrated core values. If values aren’t demonstrated, they’re only wishful thinking. What are the behaviors that are going to help us live out our purpose and demonstrate our core values?
HOOSIER1. Our desire is to reach ONE MORE and teach ONE MORE. So we ask, “who’s your one?” (Matthew 18:12-14)
Space for GRACE. No matter how gifted we are, our gifts mean nothing if we don’t lead with love. (1 Corinthians 13)
Be REAL. We come alongside each other as fellow sinners in need of God’s mercy. (James 5:13-16)
Be CLOSE, not Closed. We may feel like a family, but there’s always room for more. (Acts 2:42-47)
CROSS Generations. We encourage friendships, partnerships and gatherings that cross generational lines. (Malachi 4:6
Act as a TEAM. We encourage each other’s gifts to build a healthy and dynamic community of Jesus followers. We belong to each other and need each other. (1 Corinthians 12:4-31)
Never Give Up. We stick with each other, stay true to Jesus, and never give up on ourselves. The Scriptures encourage us to never give up, keep looking up, and keep hope alive. (Romans 15:4)
HOPE GPS. We’re organized around three commitments.
1: GATHER to experience the LOVE of God.
A PASSAGE THAT COMMANDS IT: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” Hebrews 10:24-25
A PICTURE THAT HIGHLIGHTS IT: “Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.” Luke 15:1
A PLAN THAT ACHIEVES IT: We WORK one, WORSHIP one. Every week we engage with worship and with other worshipers. And every month we choose to serve in an area during worship.
2: PARTNER to develop FAITH in God.
A PASSAGE THAT COMMANDS IT: “I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.” Philemon 1:6 NIV A PICTURE THAT HIGHLIGHTS IT: “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:31 NIV
A PLAN THAT ACHIEVES IT: Find a partner. Be a partner. Take part in each other’s faith development. That can happen in any of our small group connections. It can also happen one on one.
3: SCATTER to inspire HOPE in God.
A PASSAGE THAT COMMANDS IT: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
A PICTURE THAT HIGHLIGHTS IT: “Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.” Acts 8:4-5 NIV
A PLAN THAT ACHIEVES IT: Inspire hope through serving individually, in your small group, or our all-church initiatives. Support all we’re doing at Hope through your regular giving.
